UCCESSFUL BTW TEACHING STRATEGIES GERALD APPLE & BILL HALEY Bill and Gerry will provide the fall TSE conference attendees with behind-the-wheel tips that will help them know how to introduce the BTW lesson and test the student's knowledge before the drive lesson. Secondly, we will introduce tips to provide the students during the lesson that will enhance the safety of the drive lesson and increase the student's knowledge of the objectives covered in that lesson. Third, we will provide a 190-question worksheet over the Drivers Guide that will include an answer key and an answer finder sheet. Fourth, we will provide teaching tools that will enhance classroom instruction such as Google classroom, Microsoft Teams, Ed puzzle, Screen Casetify, packet, Flipgrid, Google Forms, quiz Lett and Kohut. Finally, we will provide criteria that will help the instructor in providing a good post evaluation for the student after the student has completed their drive. OBJECTIVES:

SUCCESSFUL BTW TEACHING STRATEGIES DEREK HAHN & BREE AMMERMAN Bellingham School District provides free TSE to all students who register for the course. Class is during the school day just as any other course offered at the four high schools and BTW happens after school and Saturday. Bree and Derek will share their thoughts about successful BTW sessions, so students feel comfortable and confident behind the wheel. During our course students must successfully pass all six drives. At no cost, students sometimes repeat a drive, to gain more practice and skills with an instructor.

DRUG TEACHING INFORMATION DAVID SCATTERGOOD The presentation will cover current drug use statistics and the true societal and health consequences of usage, how drugs affect the mind, changes in drug use during the current pandemic and how drugs and alcohol affect driving. Free educational materials from Foundation for a Drug Free World will be highlighted including excerpts from the award winning “The Truth about Drugs documentary.” OBJECTIVES:
